- Breeezy Download (for the eeePC):
- February 1, 2008 - The latest Breeezy for the eeePC is here. The Network Wizard was enhanced for secure connections (WPA, WEP). Breeezy is a Puppy Linux build for the eee originally released on December 27, 2007.
Update: Get this replacement file for ymessenger.com (that would not work in the February 1, 2008 version) and put in /usr/local/bin. - April 5, 2008 - Breeezy works in the Classmate PC! Only the RT73 wireless needs some tweaking - use this dotpup (download then transfer/click inside breeezy and the Classmate PC). Follow the network activation explained by the help (tutorial), using rt73/rausb0 module instead of ath_pci/ath0. Add these lines to the beginning of /etc/rc.d/rc.local (or to your wep-connect or wpa-connect script - make sure to replace in the script all instances of ath_pci with rt73 and ath0 with rausb0):
modprobe firmware_class
modprobe rt73 - SafePup LiveCD Download (for Diskless PCs):
- March 3, 2008 - Get the new iso with this md5sum.
- New size is 65 MB of programs plus 16 MB drivers file = 81 MB total.
- Firefox has version 2.0.11.
- ALSA (sound drivers) have been updated to1.0.15.
- Breeezy updates to Xorg and Network Wizard have been included (February 1 update of Breeezy).
- Shutdown now prompts for saving (The original safepup does not).
- The introduction page was also updated.
- Added support for a 72 MB OpenOffice sfs (version 1.1.5 with this md5sum) - rename the file to o115_213.sfs and place it beside your pup_save.2fs file. Then drag /usr/local/bin/OpenOffice to the desktop and click on it. - October 3, 2007 - The latest SafePup using Firefox 1.5.0.12: get the iso and md5sum. The ISO is 76 MB - this includes a removable 16-MB drivers file for autodetection of devices at boot time.
- Google DOCS is just too good as an office suite, so if you have broadband connection, then go for it (I tried using the current Firefox 1.5.0.12 in SafePup and it works!). You can also test ajaxwindows.com. For browser-based presentations, try XSLidy.
- Changes: Using Liberation v.0.2 fonts as TTF fonts; added CDwriter, sound recorder, XfreeCD player, GTK calculator, TextMaker, PlanMaker, GQview and ColorExplorer - this enables the user to burn own remaster quickly, read MS Office files (DOC, XLS), do image presentation, do calculations, enjoy more audio services, and choose color codes; added a quick PETget (package) installer (to use the newer .pet packages, change the filename extension to .tar.gz); revised the menu for a more efficient layout. - Get the original, smaller SafePup here and get this check md5sum (as of August 21, 2007). The ISO is 68 MB - this includes a removable 16-MB drivers file for autodetection of devices at boot time.
- a stripped Puppy 2.13 (based on BarelyPup) with Firefox 1.5.0.12 (enriched with Flash9 and multimedia extensions) and MPlayer, hence it can play most media available in the Internet.
- will run in 128-MB RAM PC without hard disk. - Learn how to roll your own SafePup here, and view the introduction there.
